As Jessica Dyer noted in the Albuquerque Journal Wednesday, Albuquerque Rapid Transit buses are set to start training runs on the Central Avenue corridor. The snazzy new diesels from New Flyer replace electric buses that, long story short, didn’t work:
[T]he city late last year ordered 20 diesel buses from a separate vendor, New Flyer of America. It has so far received five. Officials say they have not observed any significant problems with the new, turquoise-painted models.
City folk told Jessica the buses would start training runs Monday, but the BBTUT saw one sneaking up Central past the Biopark Friday morning. Looks like the city people are as anxious as the rest of us to see buses on the road.
