Most of my bike riding these days is urban ABQ, and most of that is on residential streets. But every once in a weekday while (yes, retirement is a good thing, I’d recommend it to everybody) I stretch out on the Bosque Path, NDC and connecting PdN for an up-and-back amounting to a 56-mile of just about eternally enjoyable riding from/to my South Valley place.

True, every once in a while I’m passed by or see whizzing by a “Fred” or ebiker a bit too much in love with the throttle, but on weekday mornings this is usually less of a frustration. While this blog and my cycling mindset is very much focused on riding streets these days, the serene joy of taking advantage of ABQ’s significant (yes, but not universal) multi-use path network is undeniable. Plus, the way I do it, there’s a stop at the UNM Duck Pond at the mid-point, and that makes for a great halftime.
Maybe I’ll see you out there this morning. I’ll ring the bell unless you’re a Fred. No, actually, especially if you’re a Fred. They LOVE that!
Finally, the folks I dub “Scowling White Beards” have names! Go Fred, Go MAMIL, Go Velominati! (Velominatus?)
