Regarding tomorrow’s Burque iteration of “No Kings Day III,” I first want to express my admiration for the unknown (to me) person who first said/asked at some meeting a while back, “Why don’t we just close San Mateo, Montgomery, Louisiana, and Comanche during the march?”

Unprecendently horrible president and administration aside, closing these stroads for any length of time is, in itself, reason enough for thousands of folks to make their way to Montgomery Park tomorrow. A sizable percentage, maybe 90%, of online chatter/questions about tomorrow’s event concern transportation: “Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all hate the president, but where am I gonna park?
I’d suggest parking in the middle of San Mateo Blvd. and have marchers walk around your car, but guess that idea was brought up and shot down by the planning organization. One related idea that did stick was that there WILL BE BIKE VALET AT MONTGOMERY PARK. Most/all BB readers know that the Hahn Arroyo bike path goes right through the park. In a perfect world, all 40,000 attendees tomorrow would get there by bicycle (or walk), but that perfect world doesn’t exist, as demonstrated by the fact we have to demonstrate unprecendetly horrible presidents.
However you transport to the event, and perhaps while you’re riding Hahn Arroyo up/down to No Kings Day III, keep a thought in mind for that person who first said/asked: “Why don’t we just close San Mateo to traffic for the march?” Because if ideas and outcomes like that are possible, pretty much anything is.
Thanks for this info. I’m shocked the organizers haven’t done a better job of announcing this plan, other than the location. Closing those streets makes a huge difference — wonderful — but they need shuttle buses and satellite parking.
The rally downtown in October was perfect — why not do that again. (Rhetorical and too late.)
