Burque Roadway History: 1993, A Road Through Sawmill Gets Axed

We’re starting a new feature here at Burque Babble, at least as long as my Newspapers.com 7-day trial lasts. I’m having so much fun so far, I might, cheapskate though I most certainly am, pony up for a real subscription.

So for a week or who knows how long, I’ll occasionally post a roadway infrastructure story ripped from headlines o’ yesteryear. Today it’s 1993 and evidently it only takes a “half-dozen” people complaining about something to stop the Environmental Planning Commission. You ever wondered why there’s not another east-west road between I-40 and Mountain north of downtown. Well….
