Public Meeting July 19th on Long-Awaited/Debated Sunport/Woodward Extension

For decades, it has been proposed to extend Sunport Blvd. from its current western terminus at I-25. And for decades, it’s been fought. Next Thursday, July 19th, a public meeting will be held on such an extension at the Mountain View Community Center:

Those looking for a bit of context on the opposition can read this Facebook announcement of the public meeting from SouthWest Organizing Project (SWOP). If you’re interested and REALLY want to study up, you can read the full Health Impact Assessment crafted in response to concerns back in 2015.

Next Thursday’s public meeting should be interesting and more than a wee bit contentious. Full disclosure: Scot here at Better Burque is in favor of the extension. I’ll spare you the reasons (hint: cycling). That said, there should fortunately be a wide range of public comment at next Thursday’s meeting, and your voice, regardless of position, can only help that process.
